Barron Trump may not follow in his dad, Donald Trump, and his half-siblings' footsteps when it comes to his choice of university.

The 18-year-old will soon head for college, and The Daily Beast reported, citing unnamed sources, that Barron's top choice is New York University (NYU).

According to the outlet, the Trump camp refused to comment on Barron's reported college plans.

However, Barron would need to decide where he'll attend college soon as the deadline to commit is only weeks away.

If Barron does choose to go to NYU, he would be breaking an unofficial Trump family tradition.

His dad, Donald, and three of his half-siblings, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Tiffany Trump, all graduated from the University of Pennsylvania.

Eric Trump, who graduated with a degree in finance and management from Georgetown University, is the only one so far of the former president's children who did not attend the Ivy League school.

Barron's mom, Melania Trump, for her part, studied design and architecture at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia but stopped to pursue a career as a model.

During an interview with Megyn Kelly last year, Donald described his youngest son as a "very good student" and shared that the family was already discussing Barron's college plans.

"Barron's a very good athlete. He's very tall ... about [6-foot-8]. And he's a good kid. He's a good-looking kid. He's a great student actually, very good student," the GOP 2024 presidential candidate said.

When asked if the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania was one of Barron's options for college, Trump told Kelly that the family was "looking at" it as a possibility.

While Melania has not publicly commented on her son's future, People reported last month that the former first lady had been prioritizing helping Barron look at colleges as she continued to stay away from the campaign trail.

An unnamed insider told the outlet that Melania may choose to "follow" Barron "wherever he goes to school" as she considers taking care of him her "main job."

"Barron is shy and reserved, and she has been a good mother to him all of these years," the source said.

Barron is currently attending Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida, and is set to graduate with the class of 2024 next month.

The teen's upcoming graduation recently garnered attention after his father repeatedly publicly complained about potentially missing the event.

When Trump's hush money trial began in New York City on Monday, his lawyers asked the judge if the ex-president could skip the trial on May 17 to attend Barron's high school graduation in Florida.

However, the judge postponed the decision to a later date, saying it would depend on whether the trial was moving along on schedule.

Speaking to reporters outside the courtroom Monday, Trump sarcastically thanked the judge that he "can't go to [his] son's graduation," though a decision has not yet been made.

Trump also later took to Truth Social to claim that he and Barron have been "talking about" his high school graduation "for years," suggesting it would be a blow to his youngest if his dad missed the event.
