Someone will leave the team this season on CBS's NCIS: Los Angeles.

The resolution of last season's cliff hanger "will have the greatest consequence of any story we've told," said executive producer Shane Brennan, according to TV Guide. "This season, someone will leave the team."

When the fifth season opens with "Ascension," the special projects team will be reeling from the events of "Decent." The season finale left off with the team scattered across the city and Sam (LL Cool J) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) were suffering at the hands of Siderov (Timothy V. Murphy) following Marcel Janvier's (Christopher Lambert) betrayal.

How will the team deal with all that has happened? Will the trauma be enough to drive someone away from NCIS?

Eric Christian Olsen has already revealed that Deeks is going to have a lot of trouble moving on from his unwanted dental surgery. However, he will not be the only one on the team who is having difficulty coping. While Operation Psychologist Nate Getz (Peter Cambor) will be brought in to help the team once more in episode 2, it may not be enough to keep the group together.

Eric Christian Olsen previously teased fans with the possibility that he may leave his liaison position and head back to the LAPD. Considering he never accepted Hetty's (Linda Hunt) offer of a fulltime position with the Navel association and the fact that he has previously stated that being a cop is tied to his identity, perhaps it will be Deeks who fulfills Brennan's prophecy.
