King Charles III Struggles To Evict Prince Andrew, Royal’s Home Reportedly In Total Disrepair
The Duke of York is reportedly facing eviction at the hands of his brother, King Charles III, after failing to maintain his mansion.
According to US Weekly, Prince Andrew has been dodging the annual cost of his Royal Lodge property, neglecting to pay the annual $503,000 in upkeep.
King Charles III now struggles to evict Andrew, 64, from the $37 million mansion, who is reportedly fighting to stay at the historic royal residence.
The luxurious lodge is a vast and elegant 19th century property owned by the Monarch's estate, which requires hundreds of thousands of dollars in upkeep per year.
The media outlet reported that the monarch has previously demanded that Prince Andrew and his now ex-wife, Duchess Sarah Ferguson, leave the premises and transition to something smaller.
It was suggested that the duo move into Frogmore Cottage, the former residence of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. However, Prince Andrew allegedly rejected the idea, as it was reported he believed Frogmore would have been "too big" of a downgrade.
The outlet reported that wear and tear are now becoming evident due to neglect. Cracks continue to form and become worse, plaster is falling, paint is peeling, and damp issues are now "ravaging" the building.
In 2019, Prince Andrew stepped back from his royal duties after the scandal at the hands of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein caused a "major disruption" to the royal family.
According to the BBC, Prince Andrew requested permission from the Queen to withdraw for the "foreseeable future."
