Michael Weatherly, who plays Special Agent Anthony "Tony" DiNozzo on NCIS, tweeted a few photos from the upcoming season which revolved around his character's relationship with Ziva David.

"DINozzo goes roguishly unshaven... On the Quest for Ziva! #NCIS," he tweeted along with a photo of his bearded look.

He then tweeted a still from the show, in which his character wears a suit and sits by a window.

Cote de Pablo: "It Was Not An Easy Decision"

"DiNozzo goes melancholy upscale on his Quest For Ziva... #NCIS," he tweeted.

The last teaser was a photo of Weatherly at an airport standing in front of an airplane. The caption read, "Shooting @NCIS_CBS at mystery airport... #zivagone."

Ziva is played by actress Cote de Pablo, who announced her departure from the show in July. She will return for two episodes this fall to complete her character's storyline. As EnStars previously reported, Ziva will not be killed off.

"It's not what this character deserves," the show's Executive Producer, Gary Glasberg, told TV Line. "Also, [we killed off] Sasha Alexander's Kate character [back in season 2] and I like the idea of doing this one a little different and respecting who [Ziva] is.

NCIS Season 11 Spoilers

Glasberg also offered a bit more insight into what fans can expect of Ziva's last appearance on the show. He told the website that the second episode of season 11 will reveal why Ziva is going to make a particular and important decision.

"We put a lot into that storyline, so I hope it works for people," he said of Ziva's situation.

The storyline will focus significantly on Ziva's relationship with Tony, one that fans have called Tiva.

"Even if you hate Tiva, even if you love the Tiva, if you're ambivalent, it's like a big Christmas stocking on Christmas morning," Weatherly told E! News in July.

Judging from Weatherly's melancholic tweets it's easy to presume that the two characters will not have happy ending.

NCIS is television's most popular series with a viewership of 22.7 million. Season 11 premieres on Sept. 24.
