NCIS has started looking for a character to cast in order to fill the void of Ziva David leaving the show.

The new character is described as "bright, educated, athletic, attractive, fresh-faced, focused and somewhat socially awkward," as reported by TV Line. "She has a mysterious mixture of analytic brilliance, fierce determination and idealism. She's traveled extensively, but only feels comfortable at home."

Her name is reportedly Bishop and she will likely appear on the show in January or February. However, she won't be the only new character. The third episode will introduce a woman in her 50s who is close to retirement. The character has known Leroy Jethro Gibbs from the time Mike Franks was the head of Major Case Response Team.

"So we're going to bring in people like that and have some fun with different characters," Executive Producer Gary Glasberg told the news outlet about the upcoming season. "And then, hopefully, when people are comfortable enough, one will walk in and be The One."

As EnStars reported in July, another new female is also expected to join the cast. Character Timothy McGee will have his eyes on a new love interest named Delilah. Her character could even appear on the show more than once. She is described as a "perky, smart, eccentric and downright lovable computer wonk at the Department of Defense." There's no word, however, on who will play the character.

Ziva is played by actress Cote de Pablo, who announced her departure from the show in July. She will return for two episodes this fall to complete her character's storyline and she won't be killed off.

"It's not what this character deserves," Glasberg previously said. "Also, [we killed off] Sasha Alexander's Kate character [back in season 2] and I like the idea of doing this one a little different and respecting who [Ziva] is.
