Lindsay Lohan has been enlisted to play the role of Kenny Powers' (Danny McBride) all grown-up, illegitimate daughter in the upcoming fourth and final season of the HBO series Eastbound & Down, TMZ reported Thursday.

The 27-year-old actress has already begun shooting for her scenes in the comedy about a former professional baseball pitcher who becomes a physical education teacher. One of the scenes plays out as a wedding set many years in the future with Lohan as the bride, according to sources on-site in North Carolina.

Lohan uploaded Tuesday on Instagram a selfie taken with her iPhone and the caption proved that she was elated about working on the project. She wrote, "#back@work! So grateful today!"

The eight-episode season will premiere on Sep. 29. Ken Marino (Party Down and Veronica Mars) and Tim Heidecker (Tim and Eric's) are the other new additions to the cast this season. Marino will be playing Guy Young, a middle-aged athlete who likes to party hard, and Heidecker will play Gene, Kenny's new neighbor who is a bit of nerd and lacks a sense of humor.

Lohan's last on-screen performance was her role as Tara in The Canyons. It's been a month since she left rehab after having completed 90 days of court-ordered treatment.

Oprah's TV network OWN signed a deal for an eight-part documentary series with Lohan, which will follow her on her road to recovery as she tries to get her personal life and her career back on track. The documentary is scheduled for release in 2014.

Oprah's exclusive sit-down with Lohan on Oprah's Next Chapter will air on Sunday, Aug. 18. In the interview, Lohan admitted to being "her own worst enemy." Watch a sneak peek of her interview with Oprah in the video below.
