Season 9 of Criminal Minds will feature actress Eva La Rue, from the canceled CSI Miami series, and a romance between Morgan and Garcia may be in the works.

La Rue will play a new character named Agent Mays on the show. The actress made the announcement via Twitter on Wednesday.

"Wish I were still playing Natalia on CSI Miami, but playing Agent Mays on Criminal Minds is the next best thing! @CrimMinds_CBS," she wote.

La Rue also tweeted a photo she posted on Instagram from the show's set. In the picture, she posed with Shemar Moore, who plays Derek Morgan, on the show and A.J. Cook, the actress who plays Agent Jennifer "JJ" Jareau.

"Great day at Criminal Minds with old friend Shemar and new friend AJ!" La Rue wrote as a caption with the photo.

Many fans are speculating that Moore's character will start a relationship with Garcia, a technical analyst for the Behavioral Analysis Unit. The duo have a unique friendship on the show, which spurs rumors that their relationship could one day bloom into a full-on romance. They flirt with each other regularly at work and display an overt chemistry. Morgan even refers to Garcia as "baby girl."

But for eight seasons they've walked the fine line between friendship and romance, without indulging in an intimate relationship. The release of a photo from the Criminal Minds' Facebook page, however, featuring Morgan and Garcia, caused many fans to speculate that a relationship between the two could be on the horizon.
