Despite recent reports that the iPad Mini 2 would not drop until after the New Year, more recent predictions hold that the updated device will make it's debut in time for the holiday season.

Citing issues stemming from retina display incorporation, the International Business Times previously stated that the revamped mini would not be joining its full-sized brethren in a Fall release.

However, now that the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C are slated for a Sept. 10 unveiling, many believe that the two newest iPads may make a simultaneous premiere between the iPhone launch and the holiday shopping madness, according to Bloomberg.

"Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software, and services that we can't wait to introduce this fall and throughout 2014," said Apple CEO Tim Cook, according to Expert Reviews.

In addition to receiving the retina display, the Mini 2 will receive an upgrade in its processing power  with either the A6X or the A6, a step up from the original model's A5. The operating system will also receive a facelift, as the new release will be treated to Apples brand new iOS7.

Despite these upgrades, it is believed that Apple will continue their current pricing model in order to make the Mini 2 the same price as the original.
