Nickelodeon's Fred star Lucas Cruikshank came out that he is gay on Tuesday, Aug. 20.

The 19-year-old revealed his sexuality during a weekly Youtube video chat with actress Jennifer Veal, in which they answered several questions submitted by fans.

"Why do you both look so pretty?" the actor read aloud.

"If you had the last tomato on earth, who would you throw it at?" was another question.

After answering a series of questions, Veal them mimiced a drumroll and asked her best friend, "Are you gay?" Cruikshank exploded into a fit of giggles then said, "I'm gay," adding, "It's so weird saying that on camera!" The actor then explained that his "family and friends have known for like three years."

"I just haven't felt the need to announce it on the Internet," he added.

Cruikshank then asked Veal, "When you first met me, did you know that I was gay?" to which she replied. "Yeah, because you were like 'heyyyyy'."

Veal then asked him if he was straight would he date her.

Cruikshank later thanked his fans for the outpour of support on Twitter as the news went viral. He wrote on the social media website, "I honestly love you all so much. Your support is everything and I'm glad you liked the video."

Cruikshank landed the Nickelodeon show Fred after he created a YouTube video series featuring the fictional character in April 2008. The YouTube series garnered over a million subscribers in one year and it was the first to do so on the video-sharing website. In December 2009 Nickelodeon created Fred: The Movie, which aired in September 2010, and the sequel Fred 2: Night of the Living Fred followed in 2011. In 2012 the network premiered the television series Fred: The Show.

Veal is a British actress widley known as the crude nanny on Jessie.
