Swift's I Knew You Were Trouble won the Best Female Video. She was contending with Miley Cyrus' We Can't Stop, Demi Lovato's Heart Attack, P!nk's Just Give Me a Reason, and Rihanna's Stay. The song was also nominated for Video of the Year. Swift was also a presenter at the awards show.

Dressed in a shimmering black gown, she was graceful at first, letting the band (Daft Punk) know that she was a huge fan of theirs, then moving on to thank her fans.

"I have tweeted about this a lot. I've really really wanted this, and thank you do much for doing this for me."

She also went onto acknowledge the director of the video, Anthony Mandler and co-star, Reeve Carney, who were present at the event.

But her last thank you was the most memorable, she took a subtle swipe at the inspiration (Styles) behind her break-up anthem:

"I also want to thank the person who inspired this song, he knows exactly who he is, because now I've got one of these!"
