Modern Family celebrated its 100th episode table read on Aug. 22 around the same time that actress Julie Bowen confirmed that gay-marriage will play into the storyline of season 5.

Some cast members of the show took to Twitter to talk about the special episode and executive producer Danny Zuker posted Aug. 22 on Instagram a video featuring the table read of the centennial episode. The post was retweeted by Jesse Tyler Fergurson.

Eric Stonestreet tweeted, "Just read the 100th episode of modern family. Can't believe it's been 100 already. So good. #writers."

Sarah Hyland's tweet about the read strongly suggests that episode 100 is going to be quite funny.

"We had our 100th episode table read today for #modernfamily & I have to say I was laughing the entire time," she wrote. "So lucky to be a part of it all!"

Bowens suggested that the gay storylines will be quite pronounced in the show this season and some serious issues will be tackled. Citing Glee as an inspiration, the 43-year-old actress also confirmed that the issue of same-sex marriage will be taken on this season in an interview with Entertainment Weekly at The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Pre-Emmy Performers Peer Group reception.

"We address gay marriage. We address it. I so admire Ryan Murphy and Glee and how they've taken a musical and a comedy, but they also really deliver very serious messages," she said. "We're still like 10 steps behind that. I don' t know if we'll ever be there."

Bowens added that the gay-marriage issue will be the center-piece of the first episode.

"We're still just looking for the laugh, and we do get some of our best laughs I think in the first episode from the gay marriage thing," she said. "Appropriate, inappropriate, the whole shebang. And I hope we do end in a truly Modern family way."
