Matt Damon recently addressed rumors that he would be playing Robin in the highly-anticipated Man of Steel 2.

Speaking to The Times of India in a Wednesday report, Damon cleared up all rumors that he would be playing Robin alongside Ben Affleck's Batman.

"I am a little older than Ben. I never saw Robin as older than Batman," Damon admitted. "Somebody sent me a picture actually (of Damon's face photoshopped on Robin's body and Affleck's on Batman's). It was really funny. But it's safe to say I won't be Robin."

Robin had not been rumored to be in Man of Steel 2 but bloggers and commenters wildly speculated that Damon, who is best friends with Affleck, could team up with him in the Superman sequel.

Regardless, Damon thinks Affleck is the right choice to play Bruce Wayne and his alter ego Batman.

"I think it will be great," Damon said, referring to Affleck's performance. "It will be terrific. I know there are a lot of people grousing on the Internet. I just think it's kind of funny. You know, he's not playing King Lear. It's Batman! Certainly within his skill set."

Damon argued that Affleck's performances in Argo and The Town have been much more nuanced than what it required to play Bruce Wayne or Batman.

"Batman just sits there with his cowl over his head and whispers in a kinda gruff voice at people," Damon quipped. "Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role, and Ben will be great at that."

Damon has also been facing rumors that he might be playing Aquaman in a future DC film, though he did not address such reports in his recent interview.

Man of Steel 2 is scheduled to be released on July 17, 2015.
