Paul McCartney announced that he will be releasing a new album on Oct. 15, via Twitter late at night on Aug. 28.

On Wednesday, Sir McCartney teased fans on Twitter, stringing together a random set of words -- "new": "lyweds," "fangled," "Orleans," "Zealand," "sreel," "potato."

But then he dispelled the cryptic coding with a tweet announcing his new album and also releasing the first single, 'New,' off of the album via a YouTube link.

He followed that up with a link to a Vine post about the new track and finally an iTunes link through which fans can pre-order the album, which is also titled New. McCartney has also released the song on his soundcloud page.

Very recently, Rolling Stone caught up with producer, Ethan Johns and got some information about the upcoming LP. McCartney had really appreciated Johns' work with the Kings of Leons and sought him out to audition for producing his new album. Johns recorded a few songs with McCartney.

"It was very low-key," said Johns about working with McCartney on the album. "[The idea was,] 'Let's just go and hang out for a few days, play some music, have a bit of fun and see what we come up with.'"

McCartney had been auditioning and working with a bunch of different producers over the past few months, including Ethan Johns, Mark Ronson, Paul Epworth, and Giles Martin; but we don't know who ended up getting the job.

In February this year, McCartney released Kisses on the Bottom, his first studio album in five years.

New is set for release on Oct. 14 in the UK and Oct. 15 in the US.
