Lil' Scrappy was arrested Wednesday for violating his probation when he got into a fight in a gas station convenience store.

The Atlanta rapper had a fight with a man named Kenny Rogers early Wednesday morning, TMZ reported. An off-duty officer, who happened to be in the store at the time, successfully broke up the fight and kept the two men away from each other until local authorities arrived. Police were called to the scene at around 2:30 a.m., according to the report.

Both men were arrested for disorderly conduct and Scrappy was released a short while later. Sources told the website that the Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta star was "very cooperative" during his arrest. It was not confirmed whether the other man was released from custody.

Scrappy said he had the altercation because Rogers teased his girlfriend and then touched him.

"He was calling my girlfriend names and then put his hands on me ... so I had to lay them paws on him," he said.

Mawuli Mel Davis, Scrappy's attorney, told the website there is video evidence that Scrappy was acting in self-defense. Scrappy said that he will continue to cooperate with police but is trying to focus on getting ready for season 3 of Love & Hip-Hop Atlanta, according to insiders.

Media Takeout reported Thursday that the brawl stemmed from an outstanding gambling debt Scrappy had with a man. Sources said Scrappy could face six years in prison for violating his probation. Scrappy reportedly had $16,000 cash in his pocket at the time of the arrest.

Scrappy turned himself in to an Atlanta jail on Aug. 23 after a warrant was issued for his arrest when he refused to submit a urine test. Dixon, who was dating Scrappy at the time, was photographed holding Scrappy's hand the day he went to the police station to turn himself in. He was released the next day after a judge granted his lawyer's motion to recall the warrant.
