Austin Mahone Signs to Lil Wayne's Cash Money Records After 2013 MTV Video Music Awards Performance [VIDEO]

Austin Mahone is ready to step out from Justin Bieber's shadow and teaming up with Lil Wayne's record label, YMCMB. As of Thursday night, rapper Birdman and DJ Khaled tweeted the newst, confirming some form of partnership with Mahone's Chase Records.

Austin Mahone is ready to step out from Justin Bieber's shadow and teaming up with Lil Wayne's record label, YMCMB.

As of Thursday night, rapper Birdman and DJ Khaled tweeted the newst, confirming some form of partnership with Mahone's Chase Records.

"Congrats Chase Records and AUSTIN MAHONE WELCOME to the FAMILY...YMCMBUSINESS (sic) expanding the LABELS," Birdman wrote, uploading a photo of himself with Mahone.

Mahone will be in good company, alongside label-mates Lil' Wayne, Drake, Nicki Minaj and Paris Hilton.

The singer/dancer from San Antonio, Texas made a name through YouTube videos, which landed him a deal with Universal Republic. He was dubbed by many as the next Bieber. Mahone was an opening act on Taylor Swift's RED tour and won a the 2013 MTV Video Music Award for "Artist to Watch."

Mahone performed his current single What About Love during the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards pre-show.

His debut album Junior Year is scheduled to arrive this fall.
