One Direction singer Harry Styles admitted to going out to dinner with ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift after the Video Music Awards on Aug. 25, where she called him out on on stage.

Swift took home the award for Best Female Video for I Knew You Were Trouble and while accepting the award she called out her former beau, who was the inspiration behind the song.

"I feel really lucky," Swift said to the audience, before adding, "I also want to thank the person who inspired this song who knows exactly who he is because now I got one of these. Thank you so much."

Swift and Styles later posed together for a photo at an after-party for the VMAs, held at the SoHo Grand Hotel Club Room in New York City. The 1D singer admitted to Hollywood Life that they also went out for dinner together. Speaking said at the New York premiere of One Direction's documentary film This Is Us on Monday, he reportedly said, "We went for dinner. I had a mocktail."

Also at the film's premiere, 1D singer Liam Payne called out Swift for mentioned his bandmate in her acceptance speech. He defended Styles by saying, "I just thought it was a bit not needed. I mean, you just won an award, it's like, concentrate on yourself!"

When asked by a journalist if he thought Swift's actions were "lame," Payne responded "Yes."

The band took home the Best Song of the Summer award at the VMAs for Best Song Ever. Swift continues her Red U.S. tour with Ed Sheeran and a number of surprise guests who have joined her on stage recently, including Jennifer Lopez, Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol, Ellie Goulding and Cher Lloyd.

Swift and Styles broke up in early 2013 after dating for a few months. One of their last public sightings together was New Year's Eve in Times Square, N.Y., where they were videotaped kissing as the ball dropped.
