Chris Brown drew a huge crowd when he hit the stage at the Today show on Friday.

The 24-year-old energetically performed his latest singles, Fine China and Love More, and stunned with his exceptional dance moves. Brown's female fans also made sure to touch the singer as he passed by them on stage.

But, when it was time for Brown's interview, he didn't seem as enthused. When Today host Matt Lauer asked Brown about some negative tweets he's written recently, including ones against Los Angeles District Attorney Jackie Lacey, the singer refused to comment. Instead, he focused solely on his art.

"It's not the music," Brown responded, according to USA Today. "It's about the music right now. I'll continue to work for my fans."

The R&B star is gearing up to release his new album X. The record is the follow-up to his 2012 record Fortune, which went No. 1 on Billboard. It sold 134,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. F.A.M.E. was his first album to go No. 1, selling 270,000 in its first week of release in 2011.

Chris Brown Go To War For Ya Song From X

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the 24-year-old explained what makes his upcoming record different than his previous albums.

"Making X, I found out who I am," he told the magazine in March. "This album has a lot of substance, from the subject matter and the situations to how it deals with love. It's really derived from personal experiences. Then again, I always like mixing reality with art."

Brown also aimed to pay homage to artists like Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson.

"I tried to stay away from the Euro beats, and not go totally pop," he said. "I wanted to put that classic essence of R&B and soul with the new age of music now. There's a lot of live instruments, and a lot less Auto-Tune. I really wanted to demonstrate my vocal ability, creating the vibe of me singing along with a band."
