Fox confirmed that Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr. are the final two judges of American Idol season 13.

Kevin Reilly, the network's chairman of entertainment, issued the following statement that was published in the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday. Connick, Jr. and Lopez will join Keith Urban at the judges table.

"American Idol' has always been about discovering the next singing superstar, and next season our judging panel will deliver a most impressive combination of talent, wisdom and personality to do just that: Jennifer Lopez, the triple-threat global superstar who loves and whom Idol fans love; Harry Connick Jr., a bona-fide musical genius and fantastic Idol mentor whose honesty and expertise can help turn these hopefuls into stars; Keith Urban, a multi-Grammy-winning artist who was such a positive force on the show last season."

Fox also announced that Randy Jackson will serve for the first time as a mentor on the show, and Ryan Seacrest will return as host. The crew began working on production for the audition process on Sept. 3 in Boston.

Fox reality boss Mike Darnell, producer Nygel Lythogoe and Ken Warwick will not work on season 13 of the singing competition.

Jennifer Lopez Nets $17.5 Million For 'American Idol' 2014 Season 13 Judging Gig

Connick, Urban and Lopez attended American Idol producer Simon Fuller's private event on Aug. 29, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jackson, an original Idol judge, was also at the party, held at Bouhon in Los Angeles.

Lopez is returning to the judges' table for her third season. She was a judge in 2011 and 2012, and will be the only female judge on the panel leading into the new season. The decision was reportedly made to avoid a repeat friction that took place between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj when the two women were judges in the same season.

Lopez's boyfriend, dancer Casper Smart, revealed the singer's return to the show. He slipped the news while he was discussing his new talk show with E! News on Aug. 16. Casper simply replied "yes" when asked if she was coming back.

Lopez previously appeared on Idol as a performer and mentor.
