Fans wondering if one of the main characters on Family Guy is really going to be killed off in the upcoming season can officially fear the worst.

Family Guy showrunner Rich Appel confirmed to TVLine in a Tuesday report that one of the Griffins will definitely die in the upcoming season.

"That's really happening, and [the victim] will be one of the main six," Appel said, referring to Peter, Lois, Brian, Stewie, Chris or Meg. "You'll just have to tune in."

The upcoming season will include a variety of episodes intended to shock viewers. 

In one episode, Lois' rich father will leave the entirety of his fortune to Chris, which causes Peter to divorce Lois and marry Chris, his own son. Stewie will catch herpes while in another episode Peter and Quagmire form a folk duo in the style of Simon and Garfunkel. Cleveland will also return following the cancellation of his Fox spin-off The Cleveland Show.

One episode will find Quagmire dating a woman who Appel describes is "even more confident and inventive than he is." Rachael MacFarlane, the younger sister of Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, will voice the woman in the episode.

There are numerous celebrities who will lend their voices to the show in future episodes. Actors Liam Neeson, Ashton Kutcher, Jon Cryer, Jeff Daniels, talk show host Conan O'Brien, and singer Adam Levine will all be playing themselves in season 12 episodes.

Season 12 of Family Guy will premiere on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
