'American Idol' 2014 Season 13 Judge: Harry Connick, Jr,. Named, Joins J-Lo & Keith Urban [REPORT]

The Hollywood Reporter reported on Friday that Connick, Jr. will join Lopez and Urban at the judges' table. The singer/actor previously appeared on Idol as a performer and mentor. His appointment came on the heels of reports that FOX tried to hire music producer Dr. Luke, but he could not finalize his deal with the network because it posed conflict of interest.

Lopez previously sat at the judges table for seasons 10 and 11 of Idol. She was replaced by Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban for season 12. Carey and Minaj announced they would not return to Idol when the season ended in May. According to an earlier Hollywood Reporter article, Lopez is the only female judge this season because the network wanted to avoid a repeat friction similar to the drama between Carey and Minaj.
