The wait is nearly over for fans of the hit crime show, Law & Order: SVU, as the program is set to make its return for season 15 with a 2-hour premiere in a couple weeks.

The premiere installment will revolve around Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay), whose life will be in jeopardy, as it will continue on the cliffhanger from last season that had a gun to her head.

Being that Hargitay is the star of the program, many are expecting her to make it out of the gun point scenario alive.

While the respective outcome looks as though it will indeed happen, Carter Matt reported that "we could see some major changes in her life as a result of what happens here. While she has clearly seen some horrifying things over the years in her job, it is certainly much different when these horrible things are happening to you and not someone else."

In other recent Law & Order: SVU news, Actor Raul Esparza (A.D.A Rafael Barba) was given a beefier role as a series regular.

Deadline first reported the news on the 42-year-old, who started on the show in 2012, and dons the role of Dr. Frederick Chilton in Hannibal.

Law & Order: SVU is slated to make its return on Wed., Sept. 25 at 9/8 p.m. Central Standard Time. Be sure to check back for more of the latest information on the popular program.
