Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman are expecting a baby boy, due in February. 

The X-Factor judge spent most of his Labor Day Weekend gushing about his unborn son from ultrasound photos and is excited to becoming a first-time father.

"I went to see a scan today and it is just surreal," he told the Times of the U.K. in an interview that aired Monday. "You literally see this thing which is now alive moving around. I feel very paternal right now."

Although the baby boy comes at a difficult time with Lauren still being married to her husband, Andrew Silverman in the wake of the baby news, Cowell said the mother of his unborn child is a good person. 

"It was a surprise initially and some of the circumstances around this were very uncomfortable to say the least, but it happened and she's an incredible girl," Cowell recently confessed to Neil Fox on British radio station Magic FM.

"Then once I got used to the idea that I was going to be a dad, then I was really happy."

Cowell and Lauren have made it clear that they're moving forward with their relationship. They recently just came off a European vacation, and Lauren was spotted beginning her new life in Manhattan on Tuesday, after she dropped her 7-year-old Adam off to school in Riverdale.

According to reports, the socialite will stay on the upper East Side in Manhattan. She gave up the $6million home she shared with Andrew as part of the divorce agreeement that they reached in mid-August, 

A judge isn't expected to sign off the divorce until October.
