Mel Gibson joked about his most recent furious rant on "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno Friday.

When talking about the infamous tape released earlier this month by writer Joe Eszterhas, Gibson joked:

"Maybe you don't know this about me, but I've got a little bit of a temper," the actor said.

Gibson's furious rant in Costa Rica was recorded in an audio tape and released by Eszterhas to TheWrap.com.

He was heard saying many obscenities, yelling at his house guests and throwing things because Eszterhas reportedly hadn't worked on a script.

The audio was reportedly recorded by Eszterhas' 15-year-old son in December while the screenwriter and his family were visiting Gibson at his Costa Rica home.

Gibson and Eszterhas had been working on a movie about the ancient Jewish hero Judah Maccabee.

Eszterhas' script was reportedly rejected by Warner Bros. last week and he sent a nine-page letter to Gibson accusing him of anti-Semitism and of not really intending to make the film.

The screenwriter also accused Gibson of calling Jews "oven-dodgers" and "Jewboys" but Gibson fought back the claims saying they were "utter fabrications."
