Swagger New York collaborated with Italian designer Michele Moricci to celebrate New York Fashion Week by imagining some of the most popular '90s cartoon characters in designer wear.

The publication released a set of images featuring some of the most loved cartoon characters of the Nineties, wearing designers that -- Swagger New York and Moricci thought -- would suit their personalities. The illustrations feature Lisa Simpson (The Simpsons) in Marc Jacobs, Sailor Moon in Rodarte, Daria in Prabal Gurung, Captain Planet in Hood by Air, Beavis & Butthead in Jeremy Scott, Angelica Pickles (Rugrats) in Diane Von Furstenberg. Each picture shows the character in NY neighborhoods where fashion week is taking place.

They collaborated over a couple of weeks to come up with six characters they loved and the shows they thought these characters would attend. Once that was decided, Moricci worked on the sartorial swag keeping in mind each designer's A/W 2013 threads.

Here's how NY Swagger described their motivation to come up with the uber cool idea:

"New York Fashion Week kicks off today, and while we're excited to see new looks from the new season, we are not excited to weave through the hordes of bloggers standing around Milk waiting for a street style snap. So, naturally, we've created a fantasy Fashion Week world, inhabited solely by our fave 90s cartoon characters like Daria, Captain Planet, Lisa Simpson, and more."

They also gave each picture a bit of a backstory, imbibing every character's quirks.

Here's how they wrote up Lisa Simpson headed to the Marc Show: "Lisa Simpson hits her bff Marc Jacobs' show 20 minutes late. It's okay because Marc wouldn't dare start without her, a Simpsonized image of the designer is tattooed on his arm after all."
