Eminem reentered the charts with a bang.

The rapper's newest single Berzerk debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The tune is No. 2 on Digital Songs with 362,000 downloads in its first week. Berzerk also tops the Rap Songs chart.

However, Eminem didn't manage to beat Katy Perry who took the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100 with her latest single Roar. Her song pushed Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines featuring T.I. and Pharrell to No. 2. Roar becomes Perry's eighth track to top the charts.

On his track, which was released in August, Eminem goes old-school.

"Let's take it back to straight hip-hop and start it from scratch. I'm about to bloody this track up, everybody get back," he raps. "That's why my pen needs a pad cause my rhymes on the rag, just like I did with addiction I'm about to kick it."

The song is produced by Rick Rubin, who worked with Kanye West on Yeezus, and it samples Billy Squier's 1981 hit The Stroke. The track revisits Eminem's exuberant energy that was displayed on previous albums, such as 2000's Marshall Mathers LP.

Hence why the song will appear on Eminem's upcoming eighth solo album The Marshall Mathers LP 2, which hits stores on Nov. 5. The rapper announced both the title and the release date at the MTV Video Music Awards in August.

Slim Shady's forthcoming album will be his first release since 2010's Recovery. The album, which went multi-platinum and rose to No. 1 on Billboard, features the hits Not Afraid and the Rihanna collaboration Love The Way You Lie. Eminem's upcoming album will be different than his previous six, according to those in his circle. Alchemist, Eminem's DJ, told MTV in June that the album is "clearly going to further territories."

In the same month producer Mr. Porter was asked to describe what the album will sound like on Twitter and he replied, "Have not heard anything like it."
