The late James Gandolfini is back on the screen again in one of his final performances for the film Enough Said.

The movie, written and directed by Nicole Holofcener, focuses on a middle-aged masseuse (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) who starts dating another divorcee (Gandolfini.) Gandolfini's character also has a daughter who is heading to college.

James Gandolfini Passes Away At The Age Of 51

Gandolfini, notably known as Tony Soprano in the HBO show The Sopranos, was hesistant about taking on the role because it was so out of his comfort zone.

"He would list some actors he thought could do a much better job," Holofcenter told The Associated Press in a recent interview. "I felt confident he could do this part. More than he did. He was quite certain that he couldn't pull it off."

While others had similar doubts as Gandolfini, the director said she felt she was making the right choice.

"A lot of people said, 'Oh, no one's ever seen him in a role like this,'" she said. "But if you watch The Sopranos, he has an enormous range. That character wasn't just a bully."

His on-screen love interest, Louis-Dreyfus also had similar kind words for her co-star.

"A very thoughtful guy, very dear, earnest and very self-effacing all the time and doubting all the time about himself," she told E Online in a Saturday report. "It was amazing actually, so not like a mafia boss."

Enough Said was filmed about a year before Gandolfini passed away in June. The actor suffered a heart attack while on vacation in Italy.

"I really wish he could have seen the finished film," Holofcenter also told AP. "Because hopefully he would have seen how lovely he is in it."

The movie premieres on Saturday at the Toronto International Film Festival.
