Now that the NFL has officially kicked off the regular season, it is time for fans to start pondering stats, injuries, and the most important question - who will be taking the stage at this years Super Bowl.

The mystery performer has been revealed early this year, according to the Associated Press. With Bruno Mars headlining the event, it doesn't look as if viewers will need to avert their eyes from any wardrobe malfunctions.

Although no official announcement has been made in regards to the halftime show, the source claims that the booking will be made public on Sunday.

Mars released his last album, Unorthodox Jukebox, in 2012 and has been riding its success ever since. Currently in the midst of his "Moonshine Jungle Tour," which isn't scheduled to end until next March, Mars has racked in awards over the last few years.

With several ASCAP wins, a Grammy, a Billboard Award for Top Radio Song, and two recent MTV Video Awards, Mars should be well received when the XLVIII Super Bowl rolls around.

Scheduled to take place at the Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ, this season's Super Bowl, along with its much anticipated halftime show, will take place on Feb. 2.
