Engaged couple Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus remain apart as the Hunger Games actor travels the globe to support his brother's new movie.

Hemsworth, 23, attended the Canada's Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 8 with his family to support brother Chris Hemsworth and his new film Rush. Wearing a dark gray suit and skinny black tie, Liam smiled alongside Chris, 30, and their older brother Luke, 31, while posing for photographers. The trio were also joined by their parents, Leonie and Craig Hemsworth, at the Grey Goose-hosted after-party at the Thompson Hotel, where they celebrated until 1:30 a.m.

Liam has not been with his fiancee, 20, since her raunchy performance at the 2013 Video Music Awards on Aug. 25, in which she twerked on stage and grinded on Robin Thicke while wearing nude-colored shorts and a bra. The Australian actor was spotted in London on Aug. 31 leaving Sketch nightclub about 25 minutes after Chris and his wife, Elsa Pataky, exited. Liam also attended the London premiere of Rush on Sept. 2 solo, wearing black pants, a purple patterned shirt under a black vest, and a black and white tie.

Liam and Cyrus met on the set of their 2010 film The Last Song and got engaged in the sumer of 2012.

Liam was reportedly "mortified" by Cyrus' performance at the VMAs and his friends are pressuring him to distance himself from the singer following her stage act, according to Radar Online. Sources said the performance was embarrassing for the young actor and his friends are worried that Cyrus' actions will have a negative effect on his career.

"Liam really does care about Miley, but her racy new look and sort of ghetto attitude isn't exactly what he signed up for," one unnamed friend told the website. "'His entire team is urging him to part ways with her because she's nothing but negative for his reputation and career. Liam is a serious actor with a growing career, while Miley has just turned into a joke."
