Drake pays tribute to a famous New York rap crew with his new song title but in the lyrics of Wu-Tang Forever he doesn't focus much on the hip-hop group, instead the Canadian rapper speaks about other topics.

The 26-year-old, for example, reflects on a past relationship and fake friends on the dark track.

"I don't know what's getting into me. I just like the rush when you see your enemy somewhere in the club and you realize he just not in a position to reciprocate your energy. You ain't ever worried cause he's not who he pretends to be," he raps.

Many were surprised by the song, which samples lyrics from Wu Tang Clan's 1997 track It's Yourz.

"A lot of listeners are kind of confused. Not the type of record they were expecting with the title "Wu-Tang Forever," New York Hot 97's radio personality Miss Info tweeted.

"This @Drake wu tang forever is not what I expected but it is dope...getting pretty excited to hear this album..feeling like his best work," another Hot 97 radio personality, Peter Rosenberg, tweeted.

The song will appear on Drake's third album, Nothing Was The Same, due on Sept. 24.

Drake enlisted some mega talent for his upcoming album, including Jay Z and Lil Wayne. Superstar producer DJ Hudson Mohawke, who produced Cruel Summer from Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music label, will also contribute to the record.

The rapper's third album will be the follow-up to 2011's Take Care. His sophomore album peaked at No. 1 on Billboard, as did his debut album Thank Me Later in 2010. Take Care also won the Grammy for Best Rap Album at the 2013 award show and sold more than a million copies in the U.S. alone.
