The film Don Jon premiered in New York City Thursday night, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's directorial debut in a feature film.

The comedic drama follows a a New Jersey guy who develops unrealistic expectations from watching porn. He works to find happiness and intimacy with a woman he believes to be his true love. The film stars Gordon-Levitt in the lead role, Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore and Tony Danza.

Jon Martello (Gordon-Levitt) is called Don Jon by his friends due to his ability to "pull" a different woman every weekend. However, he finds the most happiness alone in front of the computer watching pornography. Barbara Sugarman (Johansson) is a good old fashioned girl raised on romantic Hollywood movies who is determined to find her Prince Charming. Together they struggle against a media culture full of false fantasies and old fashioned expectations to try and find true love, according to Relativity Media.

The trailer features Gordon-Levitt's character, with a thick Jersey accent, list "the few things I really care about in life: my body, my pad, my ride, my family, my church, my boys, my girls and my porn."

Gordon-Levitt penned the motion picture's script as well, a first for the actor. It was released through Relativity Media and produced by Ram Bergman. 

Rolling Stone called the film "stellar," Variety dubbed it "genuine," USA Today titled it "edgy" and Wired described it as "emotional." 

Don Jon comes out in theaters Sept. 27.
