Vin Diesel revealed that shooting for the seventh installment of the Fast and Furious franchise was underway, via his Facebook account.

Diesel first wrote "Seven... Has begun..." on his Facebook wall. He then followed it up by posting a picture of him and co-stars Paul Walker and Nathalie Emmanuel from the first day on the shoot.

Fast and Furious 7 will take off from Fast and Furious 6 left off. Justin Lin has announced that he will not be directing the seventh in the series. James Wan will be directing and Jason Statham will be playing the antagonist this time around. The cast for this installment includes Ian Shaw, brother of Owen Shaw (Luke Evans, Fast and Furious 6), Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Ludacris, and Jordana Brewster, and will be reprising their roles as their characters in the previous Fast and Furious films. Kurt Russel will also be joining the cast with this film.  UFC Womens Bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, and ONG Bak star, Tony Jaa, will also play important roles.

In Fast and Furious 6 Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and his crew helped in taking down Owen Shaw. It is rumored that the plot for the new film will revolve around how the Toretto and his gang combat Owen's brother, Ian Shaw (played by Jason Statham), who is hellbent on avenging his brother's death.

It was earlier announced that filming would start in September, only three months after the release of Fast and Furious 6.

Fast and Furious 6, which released in May, was the highest grossing film for Universal, having made more than $750 million at the worldwide box office.

Fast and Furious 7 will hit theaters during the summer of 2014.
