When Matt Smith's Doctor regenerates into the Peter Capaldi version, Doctor Who fans can expect the new Time Lord to have his own set of idiosyncrasies.

While David Tennant famously dropped his Scottish accent when he took up the part of the Tenth Doctor, Capaldi will reportedly keep his Scottish tonality. Showrunner Steven Moffat claims that he is 'pretty certain' the Twelfth reincarnation of the Gallifreyan will use The Thick of It star's native Glaswegian accent, according to the Daily Mail.

Don't expect Capaldi to keep the Eleventh Doctor's jovial, child-like nature either. Each past variation of the Time Lord has had his own unique personality and the Twelfth Doctor will be no different.

"I think the fun story will be - and we have the opportunity here - is this is what regeneration can do to you. He can be very, very different," Moffat said, according to the Daily Mail. "Older, trickier and fiercer."

However, the BBC program still has two important episodes to go before Capaldi enters the scene. The 50th Anniversary Special, scheduled for Nov. 23, will see the reappearance of the Tennant's Doctor as well as his early companion Rose (Billie Piper). Meanwhile, the Eleventh Doctor must meet his end - perhaps at the hands of the Cybermen - during the Christmas Special.
