One of the new celebrities on Dancing With the Stars has expressed his disappointment over his performance on Monday night's premiere.

Television personality Bill Nye received a score of 14 out of 30 from the judges in the premiere, the lowest score of the night. Nye received a standing ovation from the crowd, who chanted "Bill! Bill! Bill!" after his performance, but it was likely for his charm and personality rather than his dancing skills.

"I'm disappointed and I think that's normal [to feel that way]," Nye told People after Monday night's show. "I'm disappointed in myself and just, things. But what are you going to do?" Tyne Stecklein, his dancing partner, said that the judges were hard on Nye in their critiques but the "Science Guy" was quick to correct her.

Nye said that the judges' critiques were not unjust at all but said that he was going to come out next week stronger and better.

"They don't care about you when you're on top," he explained. "They care about you when you come back. Watch out, next week, Paso Doble. People don't regret what they do. They regret what they don't do. I can't let Tyne down."

Though the celebrities with the lowest scores from the judges tend to not get enough votes to stay, Nye noted that he has a solid following, which could prevent him from being eliminated next week. He explained that having a fanbase is "the coolest thing. It's fantastic."

The next episode of Dancing With the Stars airs Monday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m. on ABC. The celebrities will perform another dance routine before one of them becomes the first elimination of the season.
