As the NBA season approaches, Metta World Peace is settling in with the New York Knicks and getting acquainted with his new teammates.

"I've been to practice a couple of times, learning Carmelo [Anthony], learning Ray [Felton], learning a couple of other teammates," he told EnStars during the signing of his children's book  "Metta's Bedtime Stories" in New York City on Wednesday. "It's a great group of guys."

The 33-year-old forward joined the team this year along with several other new players, including Tim Hardaway Jr. and Andrea Bargnani. But, as a new member he doesn't feel out of place.

"I'm so at ease on this team," he said. "It's like a focused aggression, and I'm looking forward to playing with the guys."

The Queens, N.Y. native is also playing for his hometown for the first time in his 14-year career, but he said that doesn't make him feel any more prideful of sporting the Knicks jersey.

"When I'm on the court the only thing that is important to me is the basketball, the four lines, the hoop, my teammates and the opponents," the former Laker said. "Other than that, nothing else really matters to me."

When asked if the Knicks can win the championship this year, World Peace didn't give a definite answer but he did assure fans that they can look forward to a powerful team.

"No matter what you say right now, those questions have to be answered in June," he said. "[But] do we have the team? Yes."
