Fans of Gru's little, yellow helpers will have to wait until 2015 to a Despicable Me spinoff in theaters.

Riding the coattails of this summer's Despicable Me 2, Universal Pictures originally scheduled a minion-centric film for a December 2014 release. However, Deadline recently reported that Minion's debut will be pushed back until July 10, 2015.

Penned by Brian Lynch, the mind behind Hop and Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem 3D, the upcoming film is directed by Kyle Balda (The Lorax) and Pierre Coffin (Despicable Me 2), who also voices several of the named minions. Steve Carell (Despicable Me 2) will reprise his role as the once-evil Gru while Sandra Bullock (The Heat) will provide the voice of Scarlett Overkill.

Viewers will get to find out where the minions come from and what their life purpose is, according to Screen Crush. Set in the 1960's, the film will focus on the little creatures relations with super villains across time, particularly their association with Scarlett Overkill.

Throughout the month of July 2015, Minions will have to compete with such productions as Independence Day 2, DC's Batman vs. Superman, and Marvel's Ant-Man. However, none of these films share the same release weekend as Minions.
