Although J.K. Rowling's first screen writing endeavor and her next foray into her magical universe is set to take place 70 years before Harry Potter enters the scene, the former stars of the iconic Potter films are speaking out about the forthcoming production.

The new project, based around the story of Newt Scamander and his work on the book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, will be set in New York during the early 1900s. However, hard-core Potter fans are still hoping that a member of the Golden Trio may make an appearance.

Daniel Radcliffe, who portrayed the famous young wizard in eight films, believes that there is little chance that any of the actors from the previous works will find their way into this new adventure.

"I'm sure they're going to have a great time. I'm sure a lot of people will be really excited," Radcliffe said, according to The Guardian. "I, needless to say, won't be involved. I don't know if any of us [the original Potter cast] will be. I know nothing about it."

Many Potterheads are hoping that Dumbledore may appear for a scene while others think it is more likely that Luna Lovegood (Evanna Lynch), who marries Newt's grandson, will have at least a brief role to play.

For his part, Matthew Lewis, who previously portrayed Neville Longbottom, is excited to get to see more of the wizarding world away from the halls of Hogwarts.

"When I was a kid reading the books there was so much more that I wanted to know outside of the linear story," Lewis said, according to Digital Spy. "I wanted to know about stuff that happened around the world and we're going to find that out through this picture that she's making. Anything that will show off that world a little more is great."

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them does not yet have a release date.
