Though a source in late August reportedly said Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones ended their marriage, the actor hinted otherwise in his acceptance speech at the 2013 Emmy Awards on Sunday.

The Behind the Candelabra actor went on stage at the awards ceremony to accept his award for Actor in a Mini-Series or TV Movie. He beat co-star Matt Damon, Toby Jones, Benedict Cumberbatch and Al Pacino. Douglas thanked Damon in his acceptance speech along with the movie's cast and crew as well as HBO. Toward the end of his speech his singled out Jones, saying, "I wanna thank my wife Catherine for her support."

Catherine Zeta Jones, Michael Douglas PHOTOS Through The Years

One source told PEOPLE magazine in late April the pair, who have not been spotted publicly together since April 22, have decided to take time apart. The insider said, "They're taking a break."

Neither star has filed for divorce or moved toward a legal separation, sources added. The couple wed in 2000 at Manhattan's Plaza Hotel and have two children: Dylan, 13, and Carys, 10. The couple have faced more than their fair share of ups and downs over the last three years - between Douglas's 2010 cancer battle and Zeta-Jones's struggles with bipolar II disorder.

Jones did not attend the Emmy Awards on Sunday. Douglas walked the red carpet alone and at times posed with Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso.

"This is a two-hander and Matt, you're only as good as your other hand," Douglas said in his acceptance speech, then got really racy: "You want the bottom or the top?"

This year's award marked Douglas' first-ever Emmy win.

CBS' How I Met Your Mother actor Neil Patrick Harris hosted the Emmy Awards on Sunday for the second time. The list of Emmy presenters included Will Arnett, Alec Baldwin, Andre Braugher, Diahann Carroll, Bryan Cranston, Claire Danes, Emily Deschanel, Zooey Deschanel, Anna Faris, Heidi Klum, Queen Latifah,  Jon Hamm, Tina Fey, Allison Janney, Jimmy Kimmel, Margo Martindale, Sofia Vergara, and Kerry Washington.
