Crystal Renn went from being a small-town girl attending etiquette school in Mississippi to a supermodel when she met a scout that knew she would be the next big thing.

The 27-year-old started modeling because she thought it was going to pay for a Yale education, which she dreamed of having. Her modeling career took off - some might say after she came out with her 2009 memoir Hungry - and though she never attended the elite school of her dreams, she is happy with where her life took her.

Renn talked with Enstars about her own sense of style, her life in the fashion world - including some of her favorite designers - and her beauty must-haves.

"I really believe one should dress based on their mood," she explained about the way she dresses, noting that it is a "very, very rare thing" for her to wear a color other than black. "I do have a love of interesting shapes. I love designers like Rick Owens, Martin Margiela. Very strong lines, interesting shape. I like avant-garde interesting [where] the esthetic is definitely different."

Off the runway and away from the photo shoots, Renn's daily wear tends to have a very 1990s feel with "interesting structures," she said. Following the end of Mercedes-Benz  Fashion Week earlier in September, she admitted that she always stays away from "trends" and instead follows what she likes.

"I feel like when im 90 I'll be wearing the same thing," she said, before adding about what styles she hates, "not for other people, but maybe for myself I don't really like flowers and too much print."

"I love a glamour moments. For evening, I love Gabriela Cadena, Zac Posen [and] Valentino. I love something dramatic. For myself, I think it's always about a statement. When I go out at night it's a chance to transform and I really use that as an opportunity."

As far as her beauty regiment, Renn said she is not blessed with naturally flawless skin and "holds the highest regard" to Witch Hazel. She singled out La Perrie, DVF products, and clay sulfur masks as some of the items she uses on a regular basis. Her must-have makeup products include Caresse lip color, NARS cosmetics, Lancome mascara and Chanel lipstick.
