When CSI: Crime Scene investigation returns on Wednesday night, two members of the Los Vegas family will be in grave danger.

The season 13 finale introduced the investigative team to the Dante's Inferno serial killer. As D. B. Russell (Ted Danson) and Co. worked to find out who is behind the murders of numerous prostitutes, Morgan Brody (Elisabeth Harnois) went missing while working undercover. Shortly after, a DVD arrived showing that Jim Brass's (Paul Guifoyal) daughter Ellie (Teal Redmann) was abducted by the same elusive criminal.

When the season 14 premiere - titled "The Devil and D.B. Russell" - opens, the majority of the CSI team will be gathered at a funeral. While it is unknown who is in the casket, there will be series regulars missing from amongst the mourners.

"There is someone in there who is a member of the CSI family," said Executive Producer Don McGill, according to TV Guide. "It will be clear whose memorial service it is at the very end of the show, and I think it will very much be a surprise and a shock to the audience."

D.B. Russell Faces Trouble and Home and Work During Season 14 of CSI

As the priest reads a passage about regarding the powerlessness humans often feel when faced with evil, Russell begins to flash back to murder scenes from the case, leading the program into the heart of the episode.
