NCIS: Los Angeles returned to CBS earlier this week and, while the series tied up the cliffhangers left from last season, the story of Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) is still in its infancy.

During last spring's "Descent," Deeks mustered up the courage to kiss his partner, expressing long building feelings that had never been discussed. However, the team was then pushed into a highly unsavory predicament and Deeks' unwanted dental improvements from Sidorov (Timothy V. Murphy) will affect all aspects of the LAPD detective's life as season 5 moves forward.

As the premiere, "Ascension," came to a close, Deeks shared a very emotional moment with Kensi, informing her that it was the memory of her that helped him to pull through the torture.

"It's the most honest conversation he's ever had with Kensi," Olsen said, according Xfinity. "There's a scene with her that's so good at the end [of the premiere]. Everyone at base camp was crying. Just tears."

Moving on from the premiere, the partners must evaluate their positions and their relationship.

"It's going to take a little while for Deeks and Kensi to talk this whole thing out. ... This season will focus a lot on the Deeks/Kensi relationship," said series creator Shane Brennan, according to TV Guide. "As we get to the conclusion of the opening episode, she will need to refocus on ... 'What just happened between Deeks and I, and what does that mean for the future? Does that jeopardize our partnership? Do I ignore this? Do I embrace this? What am I going to do?'"

However, TV Line recently revealed that Brennan has stated that the storyline will progress very quickly and take a rather interesting turn towards the end of the season. The site also revealed that Kensi's ex-fiancée will turn up on the scene at some point, although Brennan couldn't confirm if it would be in season 5 or not.

If you are a Densi fan, it looks like season 5 is what you have been waiting for over the last three years. Catch all the Deeks/Kensi scenes of "Ascension" in the video below.
