The judges of The X Factor learned Thursday night which categories they will be mentoring for season 3.

All four judges-- Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, Kelly Rowland and Paulina Rubio had the tough task of whittling down the top 40 contestants from the 200 they initially said yes to.

Cowell told the female judges there will not be a boot camp this year which was part of the process for the first two seasons.

Cowell will continue to mentor the groups category, Rowland will oversee the Over 25s and Lovato was selected to oversee the girls to victory and Rubio will mentor the boys.

The judges decided to create the final three groups with 9 remaining contestants that stood out during the auditions for the past three weeks that were too good to let go.
