Taylor Swift and Katie Holmes will be starring alongside Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges in The Giver, according to reports.
According to a Page Six report, Swift was offered the role when she went for the premiere of One Chance at the Toronto Film Festival. She co-wrote a song, Sweeter Than Fiction, with Jack Antoff of Fun for the soundtrack of the film. At the event, she was approached for a supporting role by Harvey Weinstein.
Streep and Bridges were already on board when Swift was made the offer. Swift really hit it off with Australian actor, Brenton Thwaites, who plays the protagonist of the film, at the festival.
"Harvey introduced Taylor to Brenton in Toronto because they were both going to be in the film," the source told Page Six.
According to reports, Swift and Thwaites spent some quality time together at a Soho House party in Toronto for One Chance. They were also spotted grabbing burgers at 2 a.m. and were among the last to leave.
Holmes will be playing the mother of Thwaites' character in the film.
The film is based on a dystopian sci-fi novel by Lois Lowry and follows the story of Jonas (Brenton Thwaites) who is a 'receiver of memories' and and works with The Giver (Bridges), an old man who trains the boy and guides him. Streep is cast in an antaginistic role as the society's Chief Elder.
The Giver is being directed by Phillip Noyce and the script was written by Michael Mitnick.
In the past, Swift starred in Valentine's Day with Taylor Lautner.
