With the untimely death of cast member Cory Monteith, Glee is getting ready to say goodbye to the actor as well as his character Finn in an upcoming episode.
Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy tweeted a photo Thursday of Monteith as Finn in black-and-white with the phrase "The hardest word to say is 'goodbye'." The minimalistic photo also confirms that the tribute episode will air on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
The episode, titled The Quarterback, will feature Finn's classmates and teachers grieving after learning of the character's death. It is not known how Finn dies and Murphy said that viewers might not ever know. Instead, the purpose of the episode will be to celebrate Finn's life without exploiting Monteith in any way.
For fans who cannot wait for the episode, SpoilerTV unveiled a synopsis of the episode recently. The episode will find former classmates returning to McKinley High to remember and mourn Finn. Mr. Shuester (Matthew Morrison) will tell his students to remember Finn through song as the always do.
Meanwhile, Kurt (Chris Colfer), Burt (Mike O'Malley) and Carole (Romy Rosemont) will sort through Finn's belongings and bond together as a family. Puck will share a heart-to-heart with Coach Beiste (Dot-Marie Jones) and make a life-changing decision in the wake of Finn's death.
In other Glee spoiler news, original cast members Amber Riley (Mercedes) and Mark Salling (Puck) will be appearing in two upcoming episodes despite being brought down to recurring guest star status at the end of season 4. The actors will first appear in The Quarterback and will also be featured in episode 4 of the season, A Katy or a Gaga.
Riley, who is keeping busy on Dancing With the Stars this season, posted a photo of herself on Instagram with the caption "#ootd #glee will always feel like home."
