The eighth annual BET Hip-Hop Awards will film at The Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center in Atlanta, Ga. on Saturday, Sept. 28.

It will be hosted by rap legend Snoop Doog. He will emcee the ceremony that was previously hosted by comedians Mike Epps, Katt Williams and rapper T-Pain.

The nominations were announced last month and Kendrick Lamar -- who garnered major buzz recently for his controversial lyrics on Big Sean's Control -- leads the nominees with 14 nods.

"It's a privilege to be a part of it," Lamar said following the announcement. "For the most part, BET always acknowledges my talent and I always hold that as an honor, so I'm blessed."

Drake landed at no. 2 behind Lamar with 13 nominations and J. Cole landed the third most nominations with 10 nods.

BET announced on Thursday that Lamar and French Montana have joined the performance lineup. With the hit singles B---h Don't Kill My Vibe, Swimming Pools (Drank), Poetic Justice and his guest rap on Big Sean's Control, Lamar will likely have a standing crowd through out his set.

The year's highest honor will go to rapper MC Lyte. She will receive the lifetime achievement honor called the I Am Hip Hop Award.

Lyte is being recognized for being the first rapper to receive a certified gold single (Ruffneck), the first female MC to release a solo LP (1988's Lyte as a Rock) and the first female solo rapper nominated for a Grammy (Ruffneck). Previous honorees included Rakim, KRS-One, Russell Simmons and Grandmaster Flash, Ice Cube, Salt-n-Pepa, LL Cool J, Rakim.

BET's HHA will have its premiere broadcast on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 8 p.m.

It will air overseas on BET's international network in the U.K. and Africa Friday, Oct. 18, reaching more than 17 million households in more than 50 countries.
