While fans can soon purchase the latest Nintendo sequels of Pokemon, they won't be able to transfer their old monsters until Dec. 27.

Fans will be able to bring their old monsters into the new game via two new applications - Pokemon Bank and Poke Transporter. And unlike in the past, only one system will be needed for the process.

Pokemon Bank will be available for a free download from the 3DS eShop but with an annual subscription charge of $4.99. The app will allow users to upload all their captured monsters into an Internet bank set up by Nintendo.

Poke Transporter works after Pokemon Bank has been downloaded. The second program connects with Generation V Pokémon DS cartridges and allows monsters to be sent to the X or Y game. However, once the monsters are moved, they can't be returned to the older games.

Pokemon X and Pokemon Y Spoiler Photos

As EnStars previously reported, the video game, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, will be released on Oct. 12.

"We put a lot of effort into the global, simultaneous release to make sure that pays off," the game director Junichi Masuda said. "Why we wanted to do this - to have the games out the same time around the world - is so everyone would be discovering Pokemon for the first time, trading and interacting with each other.

Like previous Pokemon games, the new area called Kalos is based on a real-world country. This time, the focus is on France.

"In terms of the visuals, there's definitely that difference. With the Kalos region, we really focused on making this gorgeous region with a focus on aesthetics, give it more of a soft feel, a bit more colourful than previous regions," he said.
