Melissa Gorga is still answering to criticism surrounding her recently released book.

Gorga's Love Italian Style was deemed controversial in September when a blogger claimed certain passages, in which Gorga offers relationship advice, promoted marital rape, Enstars previously reported.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey star appeared on VH1's The Buzz on Monday and admitted she wanted to create controversy in order to garner buzz for her latest project. Gorga compared the flak she is receiving for her book to the negative remarks targeted at Miley Cyrus for her recent antics. She said of the singer, "She wanted controversy, her plan worked!"

"The book is about putting your marriage first. I think it's about loyalty, it's about honesty. It's about respect," Gorga explained.

Writer Tracie Egan Morrissey wrote last month in a post on Jezebel.com that she believes Love Italian Style promotes "sexism" and "caveman logic." In Morrissey's article, titled "' Real Housewife' Melissa Gorga Advocates Marital Rape," she also criticized what she called "egregious" passages written by the Bravo star's husband, Joe Gorga.

"'Men, I know you think your woman isn't the type who wants to be taken," Joe wrote in the book. "But trust me, she is. Every girl wants to get her hair pulled once in a while. If your wife says 'no,' turn her around, and rip her clothes off. She wants to be dominated."

Melissa also revealed during her Monday interview that she was secretly wearing the "peace panties" her sister-in-law Teresa Giudice gave her as a birthday present earlier this year.

"It was a little strange," Gorga said of the gift. "But it was a nice gesture."
