Swimmer Ryan Lochte spoke to Enstars about his training routine and preparation for the 2016 Olympics, at the "Swim for Relief" event at Herald Square in New York on Oct. 8.

The eleven-time Olympic medalist has been training for the next installment of the sports event which will take place in 2016. Lochte told Enstars that it is a four year process and he started preparing last year.

"My training started right after I got off the plane. I got back onto US soil after London so it's a four year process, it started about a year ago so," Lochte said.

Discussing his training routine, the 29-year-old swimmer, who has won five Olympic gold medals in the past, suggested that he was taking "baby steps" right now and his short swim at the event would be a start:

"Right now, I am just trying to get back into the swing of things. I'm trying to get back into the regiment of training twice a day in the water, lifting everyday, so right now it's about baby steps, getting back into it, and this is going to be a start."

Lochte planned on swimming a few laps with Diana Nyad, who would keep going for a full 48 hours to help raise funds for benefiting victims of Hurricane Sandy.

"They just want me to do two laps, just to get in. I'll get in and keep swimming until it is time for me to get up," he said.

This is not the first time Lochte has participated in an event for charity, having been associated with similar initiatives by Proctor and Gamble (P&G) -- whose brands like Duracell, Tide, and Secret underwrote the production costs of the event -- before.

"I've worked with Proctor and Gamble before, and I am proud to be working with them again. One of the biggest things that they do is, they do disaster reliefs," he said. "Especially for this event, like Tide paid for this whole production and all the proceeds today go to Americare so they are giving back, and I am in this position in my career where I want to give back."
