At least eight Democratic members of the House of Representatives were arrested on Tuesday after they participated in a rally to push Republicans to hold a vote on a stalled immigration reform bill.

The rally resulted in about 200 total arrests after protesters blocked a main street near the Capitol building.

According to the Christian Science Monitor, the arrested Representatives include Rep. John Lewis of Georgia's 5th District, Rep. Luis Gutierrez of Illinois' 4th District, Rep. Raul Grijalva of Arizona's 3rd District, Rep. Keith Ellison of Minnesota's 5th District, Rep. Joseph Crowley of New York's 14th District, Rep. Charles Rangel of New York's 13th District, Rep. Al Green of Texas' 9th District, and Rep. Jan Schakowsky of Illinois' 9th district.

Police would not confirm the arrests, but representatives from the Center for Community Change and The Associated Press were witnesses.

One video shows Rangel and what appears to be Crowley and Green as they were arrested and led away in handcuffs as the crowd continued to cheer. (Watch the video here.)

Those arrested will be charged with "crowding, obstructing and incommoding" under the local District of Columbia laws, Capitol police said. Arrests began around 4:00 p.m. yesterday, and ended two hours later.

The representatives returned to Congress on Monday, despite the continued government shutdown.
