Dean Winchester is keeping a major secret from his brother in Supernatural season 9, and it's only a matter of time before Sammy figures it out.

The season premiere showcased an entirely new landscape for the boys and Dean (Jensen Ackles) was desperate to keep Sam (Jared Padalecki) in it. Although the younger hunter finally made the decision not to throw in the towel, he is completely unaware that he is being healed via angel possession.

"Dean is continuing to lie to Sam, and he's hating it every step of the way," Padalecki explained to TV Line. "And Sam can't really tell. Sam's like, 'OK, I remember our conversation about teamwork, so I'm going to take you at your word.' But when Sam finds out, s--t's going to hit the fan."

It doesn't look like fans will have too long to wait before Sam uncovers the truth about Ezekiel (Tahmoh Penikett) and his recovery. A source recently told Spoiler TV that the cat might be let out of the bag by episode 6, "Dog Dean Afternoon." Apparently Sam will sustain an injury to the neck but not be in any danger due to the possession and a conversation will take place regarding that fact.

However, the source did not specify whether or not Sam would be part of this conversation. Perhaps he will simply believe he got lucky in regards to the wound.

"We see Ezekiel for a long time through Sam," Padalecki said of the angels continued presence, according to TV Line. "Zeke stays around for a while, which I like. I like that it's a work in progress and that slowly but surely Sam is, hopefully, healing."

Supernatural airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on the CW.
