The trailer for Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, a new Latino version of the franchise, has been released.

In response to the immense popularity of Paranormal Activity in the Latin comminity, the creators of the film worked on a spin-off for fans. The new version was written and directed by Christopher Landon, who wrote the last three installments of the franchise. He was also the director of Disturbia (2007).

The film stars Richard Cabral, Carlos Pratts, Eddie J. Fernandez, Jorge Diaz, David Fernandez Jr., Kimberly Ables Jindra, Tonja Kahlens and Frank Salinas.

The trailer starts with a crime scene in Oxnard, Calif., and then moves to the story of the victim who seems to have been the subject of some black magic. He discovers unexplained bite marks on his arm and gets beat up on the street by a couple of jocks for no reason. As the trailer progresses stranger things happen to him, worsening his condition.

A friend of the victim investigates the strange occurences and she finds out from an expert on the matter that the ones that are "marked" became the hosts for demons. A glimpse of a pair of creepy girls without eyes toward the end of the clip highlights the eeriness.

The next official installment in the franchise, Paranormal Activity 5, will release in October 2014.

Jason Pagan and Andrew Deutschman, who collaborated on Almanac, will be writing the fifth film. Greg Plotkin was editor and co-producer of the last three installments and the spin-off. He will be working on Paranormal Activity 5 as well.

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones is scheduled for release on Jan. 3 of 2014.
